Minocqua Tire and Auto is a busy six-bay auto repair shop with five lifts in Minocqua, Wisconsin. We are looking for a General Repair Technician. We would welcome anyone from a lube tech to an advanced technician. We will show direction and help when needed, but we are not a training facility, applicant must have a mechanical understanding of the basics of automotive applications.

We work on all types of vehicles, from classics to modern. Your earning potential is up to you.

Who Are We Looking For?

The ideal candidate would have good computer skills, excellent people skills, and is willing to learn and grow with the job. They will be able to provide references that confirm punctual attendance and good work ethic. Have a valid US driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work.

• General Repair Technician

Responsibilities

• Performing work specified on the repair order with efficiency.
• Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing automotive systems, including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicating directly with the Service Advisor so that guests can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of the time needed for additional repairs

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
  
• Must have at least two years of experience as an auto technician
  
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
  
• Knowledge of all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance
  
• A fast learner
  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
  
• Excellent Guest Service Skills
  
• Team Player
  
• Must have a valid driver’s license
  
• Ensures that guest’s cars are kept clean
  
• To maintain work area in an orderly and clean manner

Skills/Qualifications:

• Ability to identify problems quickly
• Good knowledge of automobiles
• Effective analytical and communication skills
• Good reading, computer, and mathematics skills
• Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications
• Should be able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
• Must be able to handle interruptions and perform simultaneous tasks “in stride.”

Hours:

• Full time - 40 hours a week
• Regular shop hours are 07:00 - 17:00 Monday - Friday and some Saturdays. Additional hours are available if desired.

Benefits:

• Paid time off

• $100/year steel reimbursed for steel-toed footwear. 
• $500 twice yearly for purchasing own tools. 
• Other benefits are negotiable.

Pay Scale:

• $15-$35/hr depending on experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer ASE certifications or 5 years experience, and we will train on the job.
